Generally I take families out for a walk somewhere for their photo session, there always seems to be less pressure when they are just interacting and being natural with each other.
The Coxhill family were slightly different though - as the group was so big, and the weather so cold, we decided to take their portraits at the family home. With some of the family over from NZ, it was the ideal opportunity for a get together. Big groups can be difficult but I loved the fact that they didn't want a traditional portrait in the sense that they didn't want very static, all looking at the camera shots, which was brilliant for me as I don't feel that evokes the real family! I love shoots like this, you can see the obvious affection but also the individual personalities.
